Transparency
Why this page? Because I value transparency and mutual trust.
About me
Goals
I want to turn one of my prototype ideas into a polished game. But I can't realistically do this alone so I'm looking for people or friends to join me.
My values
Harmony, mutual respect and trust, humility, empathy, rationality.
Self-promotion
I guess I have to do this...
I have 5+ years of professional experience in R&D in the video game industry, with an emphasis on:
- deep reinforcement learning (in short: maths and game theory);
- physics simulation with high performance.
Even though I have worked in the game industry, I never had the opportunity to ship my very own game ideas.
Those skills don't directly help me achieve my goals, but I definitely became versatile on the way, and I consider myself strong in sciences and computer sciences.
My experiences (both personal and professional) made me proficient in various programming languages and environments.
Finally, people like working with me. :)
Why this site
With this site, I hope:
- to more easily share my gameplay ideas with my friends or people I meet, for them to test them out;
- I can find people that want to help me get those ideas into polished (and publish-able?) games.
Use of AI
Art
Using human-made art is important to me. I don't want AI art:
- in any final product; because I value collaborating with humans, and having coherent art that make the product unique;
- in my prototypes; indeed, the goal is to just test the gameplay; because simple shapes do the job well enough for gameplay, no need for AI-generated graphics.
In order to achieve my goals, I am looking for an artist who is
- interested in any one of my prototypes
- and willing to get paid; I'm putting this here because I am aware that several artists in this area are not paid.
Coding
On the other hand, LLMs for coding have helped me to achieve iterations on my prototype ideas at a much faster pace than before LLMs came. Being able to see my ideas come to life so fast does bring me joy. I have had some ideas for up to 5 years but I never had the time to code all the features I had in mind. As a result, I allow myself to use them for coding now, even though I am not proud of doing it for ethical reasons.
In practice, I use Claude. While I use it, I try to not waste tokens, because ethics matter to me, and I am aware of the negative impact of those technologies on climate change, inequalities, and democracies. Also, I try to keep track of the amount of spent tokens, and report those numbers per-prototype (+ this website). I consider this important for transparency and for giving me a metric to keep an eye on.
- This website cost ~370k tokens.
- Dungeon cost ~1.1M tokens
- Powergrid cost ~380k tokens.
Collected data
This website collects no personal data.
It does log the following:
- count the number of visits on this website;
- debug logs from the played game sessions; those might help me improve the gameplays and fix issues.
